About Mary Gorham
Hey everyone! My name is Mary Gorham and I am from Alexandria, VA. I am a sophomore psych major with a law and society minor on the pre-law track. I hope to, in the future, work for groups that aim to free innocent people and provide legal assistance to those who may not otherwise have access to adequate legal counsel (such as the Innocence Project, Equal Justice Initiative, etc), so I will probably focus on civil rights or criminal law in the future.
Right now, however, I am enjoying my undergrad as a psych major and learning lots of super cool stuff. My first semester I took a philosophy course and I really enjoyed how it forced me to look at things in different perspectives and think in new ways, so I am excited to take this course that combines a few of my interests.
Right before quarantine my family got the cutest little puppy named Charlie! Fun Fact: we did a DNA test and the only result it gave us was that he was a street dog, so we have no real breed information. Regardless, he is the funniest dog I have ever met.
I also love spending time with my family and spent PLENTY of time with them over the summer. We all took turns cooking and planning game nights so we made a not-so-great situation at least a little bit better. I am pretty close with all of my nuclear family and even some of my aunts and cousins, so of course I miss them a lot.
Finally, I wouldn’t love South Carolina as much as I do if it wasn’t for my best friend! We were best friends as kids but lost contact after she moved away and didn’t connect until our parents found out through Facebook that we were going to the same school and upon further questioning, found out we were going to be living on the same floor! We quickly became best friends again and that wild story is often my fun fact for ice breakers :)!
So excited to “meet” everyone and start the semester!
